Name: Kevin J. Walsh Position: Head Coach of Alfred University—Alpine Years with USCSA: 8 Home Mountain: Swan Ski Center Hobbies: Fishing, hunting 1. Where and why did you first learn to ski/ride? Wintertime in Watertown, New York— tons of snow and an 8 foot slope in the backyard... Dry Hill Ski Area, Watertown, New York 2. How long have you been involved with USCSA and how did you first become involved? 8 years. My son started skiing for Alfred University in 1999. I took over the program in 2001 to keep it going and also spend two more years coaching my son. 3. What are your current responsibilities for the organization? Learn the ropes of our organization to one day take over as Mideast Conference Coordinator. 4. Describe your favorite on-the-snow memory. Wow. Every time my son and daughter competed at all levels. Conor: Alfred University 1999 – 2002 Katie: St. Bonaventure University 2003 – 2004 5. Why do you like being involved with USCSA? I have coached USSA J5s, J4s, J3s, J2s, and J1s. I enjoy the TEAM format of USCSA. 6. If you could spend a week skiing at any ski resort in the world where would it be and why? Alaska I have skied all over the USA and Canada. Alaska next…because. |
